Smart automation for prefab timber construction at Senmar (PT)
Robotized Timber frame production boosts efficiency at Senmar
The Portuguese company Senmar ↗ has upgraded its prefab timber wall production with a robotized timber frame line engineered by Handsaeme Machinery (Belgium). This investment aligns perfectly with their long-term strategy to improve wall panel manufacturing efficiency, precision, and operator safety.
From BIM design to automated production
The new production setup features a robotic manipulator equipped with a vacuum grip system for precise handling of OSB, plywood, and gypsum boards, as well as automated butterfly tables designed to streamline the wall panel assembly process.
These solutions are seamlessly integrated into Senmar’s existing BIM-driven production workflow, allowing digital drawings to directly guide production. This minimizes manual setup, reduces human error, and ensures consistently high accuracy from design to final product.
Ergonomic efficiency and digital precision
Senmar’s recent LinkedIn update highlighted how Belgian automation technology supports their commitment to operational excellence and innovation.
Since installation, Senmar has reported measurable improvements in operator ergonomics, production throughput, and quality control.
Heavy manual handling is replaced by smart automation, allowing operators to focus on supervision and craftsmanship.
This project showcases how Belgian engineering and robotized timber frame technology can shape the future of industrialized timber construction across Europe.
