We are thrilled to share that we’ve successfully 3D printed a 270mm diameter wheel using our new ISLM280 metal printer! 🖨️✨ This wheel will be mounted on an industrial robot designed for prefab timber frame wall production.

Efficient dust extraction

As part of our ongoing partnership with AniMA, we’re excited to unveil our latest breakthrough—a custom-designed 3D-printed wheel (Ø270mm) produced using the advanced ISLM280 metal printer. This precision-engineered component plays a pivotal role in enhancing dust control within our newest automated timber wall production line.

 

The wheel is mounted on an industrial robot responsible for performing key tasks such as milling, sawing, and nailing. As the robot moves between these operations, the wheel dynamically adjusts the length of the dust extraction tube to match the robot’s position, ensuring effective and continuous dust collection. In combination with a specially designed cylinder, this system optimizes the tube length for each task, significantly improving operational efficiency.

This process requires operators to position the parts within the jigs, introducing a labor cost and potential inconsistency.
